In 2021, we set out to transform a historic 1937 duplex in Wesley Heights into two unforgettable stays: King’s Quarters and Queen’s Quarters. With the vision of designer Laura Roach (@gooseandguinea), Cushy Quarters became a blend of bold, playful design and the comfort today’s travelers expect.
✨ Some highlights from the feature:
A living room that sparks conversation with eclectic touches—from beetle-patterned rugs to a vintage rocking horse.
A hound-themed bathroom inspired by our love of dogs, featuring whimsical hooks and even a portrait of “Mashed Potato.”
A jungle-inspired bedroom that balances fun and sophistication—perfect for kids, families, or bachelorette groups.
A jadite-green kitchen that nods to the home’s 1930s roots while feeling fresh and functional for modern stays.

Laura’s philosophy?
To create “special little treasures in each room” that give every guest a one-of-a-kind experience while keeping spaces comfortable and practical.

While designer Laura Roach brought a bold vision to Cushy Quarters, owner Scott was right there in the process, literally living in Queen’s Quarters with his dog Toby during the renovation.
He personally painted every wall, hung the wallpaper, and even paused to play with Laura’s daughter between projects.
It’s those hands-on, heartfelt touches that make Cushy Quarters more than just a stay; it’s a home filled with stories, creativity, and care. No wonder Charlotte Magazine thought it was worth a spotlight
It’s an honor to see Cushy Quarters recognized by Charlotte Magazine, but what means the most is seeing our guests make their own stories here.
